The Khris Middleton reunion is official in Washington. The 34-year-old wing agreed to a three-year, $17.6 million return via a sign-and-trade with Dallas, folding a familiar veteran into a six-team swap that also reshapes Detroit, Memphis, Milwaukee, and the Clippers.
According to ESPN, agent Mike Lindeman told Shams Charania the deal was done Tuesday. Washington sends D’Angelo Russell, a 2029 second-rounder, a 2032 second-round swap, and a 2033 second to Memphis. Dallas adds a 2033 second with Middleton to the Wizards.
Why the Khris Middleton reunion fits Washington
This is not a cold free-agent flier. Middleton spent parts of the past two seasons in Washington after Milwaukee traded him at the 2025 deadline, then moved to Dallas in the Anthony Davis deal before February. Mutual interest in a Khris Middleton reunion surfaced early in free agency, ESPN reported, based on how that first Wizards stint went.
Last season he averaged 10.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 63 games. The historical case for keeping him is the playoff record: 80 postseason games, with career playoff marks of 20.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists — all above his regular-season lines. He was a three-time All-Star in Milwaukee and co-starred with Giannis Antetokounmpo on the 2020-21 title team.
What the six-team web actually moves
Detroit sent Caris LeVert and two seconds to Milwaukee for Taurean Prince and Gary Harris, creating a trade exception and cap savings. All three are on expiring deals. Detroit also routes Marcus Sasser to Dallas, Isaiah Stewart to Memphis, and a protected 2028 second to the Clippers.
Memphis sends Santi Aldama and Tarik Biberovic’s draft rights to Dallas, plus three seconds to Detroit. The Clippers move John Collins to Detroit and cash to Milwaukee. Dallas also ships AJ Johnson to Memphis with a 2030 conditional first and a 2029 second.
LeVert averaged 7.4 points in 60 games for the No. 1-seeded Pistons. Prince has shot above 43% from three the past two seasons. Harris, a 12-year veteran and Michigan State product, played under 14 minutes a night in Milwaukee.
What this means for the Wizards’ window
Washington already traded for Trae Young and Anthony Davis last season to push a young core toward the playoffs. Free agency added Deandre Ayton and now the Khris Middleton reunion for veteran depth. The Axo read: this is a bridge signing, not a rebuild reset. Middleton’s championship minutes and locker-room role matter more than his scoring average if Young and Davis stay healthy.
